SUMMARY:AIDA4Edge: Event-Based Selective Attention for Multi-Resolution fast ROI Detection
DESCRIPTION:Event-based vision sensors offer a fundamentally different way of perceiving the world\, by only capturing changes in a scene and enabling low-latency and efficient perception. \nHowever\, the high event rates of modern sensors can make them impractical for edge applications. In this talk\, I will present an Event-based Selective Attention approach that leverages multi-resolution processing for fast Region of Interest (ROI) detection\, validated on a large-scale automotive dataset. Inspired by biological attention\, the method combines coarse global monitoring with fine-grained saliency detection\, dynamically focusing resources only on relevant activity. This enables scalable\, low-power processing while preserving high sensitivity to salient features. \nThe seminar will be delivered by Dr Luca Peres and facilitated by Dr Davide Bertozzi and Dr Oliver Rhodes. \nThe webinar will be held in hybrid format and available online on Teams at this link: https://tinyurl.com/AIDA4Edge-Webinar \nContact: luca.peres-2@manchester.ac.uk
