AIDA4Edge: Event-Based Selective Attention for Multi-Resolution fast ROI Detection

26 September @ 14:00 - 15:00 UTC+2

Event-based vision sensors offer a fundamentally different way of perceiving the world, by only capturing changes in a scene and enabling low-latency and efficient perception.

However, the high event rates of modern sensors can make them impractical for edge applications. In this talk, I will present an Event-based Selective Attention approach that leverages multi-resolution processing for fast Region of Interest (ROI) detection, validated on a large-scale automotive dataset. Inspired by biological attention, the method combines coarse global monitoring with fine-grained saliency detection, dynamically focusing resources only on relevant activity. This enables scalable, low-power processing while preserving high sensitivity to salient features.

The seminar will be delivered by Dr Luca Peres and facilitated by Dr Davide Bertozzi and Dr Oliver Rhodes.
